We’ll dig into everything from handwriting and number sense to spiral review, lesson planning, and more, so you can better understand what you’re teaching, why it matters, and how to make it work for your child. CLASS 001: HANDWRITING
Handwriting is about so much more than learning how to make a letter. When kids learn to write, they’re actually developing two different skills at the same time: forming letters correctly and understanding where those letters belong on the page. And when handwriting gets tricky, knowing the difference can completely change how you help.
In this class, we break down letter formation vs. spatial awareness, what each skill actually looks like in your child’s writing, and how to recognize which one may be causing the struggle. Then, instead of simply asking your child to practice writing more, you’ll learn simple, targeted strategies that address the skill they actually need to strengthen, so handwriting practice becomes more intentional, productive, and a whole lot less frustrating.
CLASS 002: TEACHING NUMBERS
Learning numbers is about so much more than memorizing numerals or seeing how high your child can count. To build strong number sense, kids need to first recognize numbers, understand what those numbers actually represent, and eventually apply that knowledge to solve problems.
In this class, we break number learning into three stages: Recognize, Understand, Apply and explore how skills like number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence, cardinality, comparing quantities, addition, and subtraction build on one another. You’ll learn what each stage looks like, how to recognize where your child is in the progression, and simple ways to help them move from simply identifying a number to actually understanding and using it. Because the goal isn’t to see how quickly we can get kids to harder math, it’s to build the understanding underneath it.
CLASS 003: Phonics vs. phonemic awareness
Learning to read is about so much more than memorizing letters and their sounds. To build strong readers, kids need to first hear and work with the sounds in spoken words, then understand how those sounds connect to letters and patterns in print.
In this class, we break down the difference between phonemic awareness and phonics and explore how the two work together to build reading skills. You’ll learn what each skill actually looks like, why blending is the bridge between knowing sounds and reading words, and how to pinpoint where the breakdown is happening when your child gets stuck. Most importantly, you’ll learn simple ways to determine whether your child needs more practice hearing sounds, connecting sounds to print, or blending those sounds together. Because the goal isn’t just to teach kids more phonics rules, it’s to understand what they need in order to become confident readers.
CLASS 004: THE MORNING MENU SERIES
A Morning Menu is about so much more than choosing a few worksheets and sliding them into a menu cover. When used intentionally, it can become a powerful tool for building independence, reinforcing skills, and creating a smoother start to your homeschool day.
In this class, we break down how to build and use a Morning Menu that actually supports your child’s learning. You’ll learn how to choose activities that meet your child where they are, balance new learning with familiar practice, and use repetition and spiral review to strengthen skills over time. We’ll also explore how to start together, build independence, spot gaps, and extend the learning beyond the page. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to create a Morning Menu that can grow and change with your child. Because the goal isn’t to fill eight pages every morning—it’s to create meaningful, manageable practice that builds confidence and independence.
